On Sunday, May 18, the usual calm of Saint-Paulien gave way to the positive energy of a self-defense introductory workshop inspired by Wudang techniques.
Open to everyone, the event welcomed a diverse audience: curious newcomers, beginners, and experienced martial artists eager to deepen their practice in a warm and focused atmosphere.

This workshop was born from the strong enthusiasm sparked by the March event against violence towards women. Many participants had expressed frustration at the short format of that day. It quickly became clear that a longer, more immersive experience was needed to foster discovery, learning, and self-confidence.
Led by Fabrice DEFAY, 4th DAN FFKDA and certified federal instructor, the session offered a strategic, non-violent, and flowing approach to self-defense, rooted in traditional Chinese internal martial arts. Participants explored accessible techniques focused on stress management, awareness, and effective action without brutality.
The most striking aspect of the day was the quality of exchange between participants of all levels. Beginners benefited from a safe and encouraging environment, while advanced practitioners refined their understanding of core Wudang principles.
Everyone left with a genuine sense of progress and discovery, in a setting of mutual respect and good spirit.
The success of this workshop confirms the growing need for practical self-defense tools and a strong interest in holistic martial arts approaches that respect both body and mind.
A big thank you to Fabrice DEFAY for the quality of his teaching, and to all participants for their energy and commitment.
See you soon for another dive into the world of Wudang martial arts!
